UPDATE - 22nd August 2012
Update from Highways Dept
"We installed traffic signals with variable message signs in two locations to slow drivers down and make them aware of the planned works, these were in place by the end of play on Tuesday 21st August. Resurfacing works on the B4077 has commenced today with the planning off the surface on the two bends between Hobnails Pub and the roundabout, these sections will be resurfaced before the weekend. Tomorrow we will be planing off the other section to be resurfaced from the Alderton Fields junction to the Hobnails Pub and we plan to resurface this section after the bank holiday weekend if not before. We are working with our contractor to complete this works as quickly as possible. The works are being undertaken under a road closure during the day but re-opened once work is complete under traffic management and it will remain open over the bank holiday weekend, again with appropriate traffic management in place if works are not completed.
We plan to complete the resurfacing as quickly as possible and I will keep you updated on the works as we go through the week."

LATEST NEWS - ROAD TO BE RESURFACED.
We have news this morning from the Highways Dept that work will commence THIS WEEK on rectifying parts of the road surface that has caused so many problems. More news when we get it. Quote from Highways:
"I can now confirm we are planning to resurface sections of the B4077 and works should be started this week, unfortunately this work is weather dependant and as such the programme is changing almost daily especially with the weather experienced last week.
We also plan to install some traffic management with some message signs to inform drivers of road condition and the planned works"
YET ANOTHER INCIDENT
FRIDAY 17th August 2012
A lorry travelling westward (towards Tewkesbury) on the B4077 (witnesses say only doing around 45mph) lost control just before the Alderton Garage and ended up in a field. It is a miracle that a head on collision did not take place. Thankfully THIS TIME nobody was hurt.
Quote from Keith Page: "For the record the guy driving the lorry wasn’t speeding. Eye witnesses following him say he was doing about 45 miles an hour. Almost as soon as he drove onto’ repaired’ part of road, the lorry swerved across the road and rolled into the hedge. The road was wet at the time and he said it felt like driving on ice. By coincidence this happened right by the new skid risk sign. Another incident against the road surface?
However while the recovery team were working, big lorry and flashing lights, we witnessed some appalling examples of speeding and complete oblivion of hazard even though there is a clear view coming from Tewkesbury . We were waiting for accident no 2 ."
DOES IT REALLY NEED SOMEONE ELSE TO BE KILLED BEFORE SOMEBODY TAKES THIS MATTER SERIOUSLY AND DOES SOMETHING?
